Who We Are



Economic Development / Washington County: An independent public private partnership fueling growth businesses and industries for the creation of quality jobs and wealth in Washington County. EDWC accomplishes this through a focus on existing business development consulting; engaging in driver-industry business attraction; supporting start-up enterprises and serving as a central voice on economic development issues. EDWC takes a big-picture approach with client projects, providing assistance through B2B and tools and strategies. The organization’s clients include decision-makers at companies large and small, site selectors, commercial brokers, public officials and others engaged in growing businesses. EDWC assistance often involves working with clients to secure gap funding in support solid projects. This is accomplished via strategic deployment of diverse tools and partnerships.

EDWC’s 2011-13 strategy includes four outcomes-based initiatives: (1) pilot and implement economic gardening resources for existing business; (2) deepen the County’s box of tools for project support and gap funding; (3) engage in driver-industry business attraction; and (4) attract the talent needed to fuel business growth. Progress along the strategy is measured using a “dashboard of performance indicators” that focuses on job creation and new investment.

EDWC provides direct consultative services via a 3-person full-time staff and some 45 active volunteer business and government leaders.
